Equalize Insights Policy
Last updated: 29 June 2026
Equalize is designed to help households organise chores, shopping, shared expenses, reports and household responsibilities.
As Equalize grows, we may use anonymous and aggregated information to better understand how households organise their homes. We call this Equalize Insights.
This policy explains what Equalize Insights are, how they may be created, and the limits we place on them.
Equalize is operated by Duncan Scott trading as Jackdaw Britannia Enterprises, a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom.

1. What are Equalize Insights?
Equalize Insights are general observations about household organisation based on anonymous and aggregated information from households using Equalize.
They may help us understand trends such as:
- which chores households commonly create;
- which rooms are most often included in household routines;
- how households schedule recurring chores;
- how shopping lists are used;
- how households record shared expenses;
- how often households complete different types of tasks;
- what types of household activity appear most often;
- how households use reports, reminders and activity highlights.
Equalize Insights are designed to describe general household trends, not individual people or individual households.
2. Why we create Equalize Insights
We may use Equalize Insights to:
- improve Equalize;
- understand which features are useful;
- develop better household tools;
- identify common household patterns;
- create educational or interesting content;
- publish general household trends;
- support marketing and public communication about Equalize;
- produce future reports about how modern households organise responsibilities.
For example, we may publish a statement such as:
"Based on households using Equalize, many households do not treat grocery shopping as a chore."
Or:
"Bathroom tasks are among the most commonly scheduled household chores."
These examples are illustrative only.
3. What information may be used
Equalize Insights may be based on anonymous and aggregated information from app usage, such as:
- chore names and categories;
- room names or room categories;
- chore schedules;
- chore completion patterns;
- shopping list trends;
- shopping activity;
- expense categories;
- shared expense patterns;
- household size bands;
- report usage;
- activity feed event types;
- app feature usage.
Where appropriate, similar items may be grouped together.
For example, "take bins out", "empty bins" and "bin night" may be grouped as a general "bins" category.
4. What information is not published
We do not publish information that identifies individual users, households or household members.
We do not publish:
- names;
- email addresses;
- invite codes;
- exact household identities;
- individual household records;
- individual user records;
- raw household data;
- private notes;
- account identifiers;
- device identifiers;
- push notification tokens;
- precise household-level activity;
- identifiable financial records;
- information based on very small groups where a household or person could reasonably be identified.
5. Aggregated information only
Equalize Insights are based on aggregated information.
This means we combine information from multiple households before using it for public insights.
We do not publish individual household records.
We do not publish individual user behaviour.
We do not publish a specific household's chores, expenses, shopping habits, reports or activity history.
6. Anonymisation
Equalize Insights are designed so that users, households and household members cannot reasonably be identified.
Before publishing insights, we aim to remove or avoid information that could identify a person or household.
This may include removing or avoiding:
- names;
- email addresses;
- account IDs;
- household IDs;
- invite codes;
- exact dates where unnecessary;
- overly specific categories;
- small or unusual segments;
- combinations of details that could identify someone.
7. Minimum sample sizes
We use minimum sample sizes before publishing public Equalize Insights.
This helps reduce the risk of identifying individual households or users.
We avoid publishing insights based on very small groups.
We also avoid overly narrow breakdowns that could make people identifiable, such as combining too many filters at once.
For example, a broad insight based on thousands of households is generally more appropriate than a narrow insight based on a handful of households in a specific place or situation.
8. Sensitive topics
Equalize is a household app, so some information may feel personal even when it is not legally sensitive.
We will be especially careful with insights involving:
- shared expenses;
- household balances;
- transfers;
- fairness indicators;
- family structures;
- teenagers;
- relationship dynamics;
- conflict or imbalance;
- location-based comparisons;
- small household groups.
We may choose not to publish certain insights even if they are technically anonymised, where publishing them would feel unfair, intrusive or inconsistent with Equalize's values.
9. Financial insights
Equalize may include shared expense and balance features.
We may use aggregated and anonymised financial information to understand general household trends, such as broad expense categories or how households use shared expense features.
However, we will not publish identifiable financial information about individual users or households.
We will be cautious when publishing financial insights because household finances can be sensitive.
Equalize Insights are not financial, legal, tax, accounting or professional advice.
10. Use in marketing and content
Equalize Insights may be used in:
- social media posts;
- blog posts;
- website content;
- app store descriptions;
- launch updates;
- press materials;
- public reports;
- educational content;
- marketing for Equalize.
When we use Equalize Insights, they should remain anonymous and aggregated.
We may use insights to explain how households use Equalize or how households organise responsibilities generally.
We will not use Equalize Insights to expose individual users or households.
11. No sale of personal information
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not sell household-level data.
We do not sell user profiles, email addresses, household records, invite codes, behavioural profiles or identifiable household activity to advertisers, data brokers or other third parties.
Equalize is funded primarily by subscriptions, not by selling user data.
12. Reports, sponsorships and partnerships
In the future, Equalize may create public reports, articles or content based on Equalize Insights.
For example, we may publish a report about household organisation trends.
We may also consider sponsorships, partnerships or commercial reports in the future.
If we do this, the underlying insights must still be anonymous and aggregated.
We will not provide sponsors or partners with personal information or household-level data.
Any sponsorship or commercial relationship should be clearly disclosed where appropriate.
13. Product improvement
Equalize Insights may also be used internally to improve the app.
For example, we may use aggregated information to:
- improve chore suggestions;
- improve room templates;
- improve reports;
- understand which features are confusing;
- decide which features to build next;
- improve onboarding;
- improve household activity highlights;
- improve app performance and reliability.
This helps us make Equalize more useful without relying on selling personal information or household-level data.
14. Advertising and tracking
Equalize does not use Equalize Insights to sell personal information to advertisers.
Equalize does not provide advertisers with household-level records.
Equalize does not allow advertisers to target individual users based on their household chores, shopping, expenses, reports or activity history.
If Equalize introduces affiliate recommendations or commercial partnerships in the future, they must not involve selling personal information or household-level data.
15. Examples of acceptable insights
Examples of insights that may be acceptable if properly aggregated and anonymised include:
- "A majority of households using Equalize schedule bathroom cleaning weekly."
- "Grocery shopping is not treated as a chore by many households."
- "Kitchen tasks are among the most commonly created recurring chores."
- "Households with recurring schedules tend to complete more chores than households using only ad hoc tasks."
- "The most common shopping list categories are food, cleaning and household essentials."
These are examples only and may not reflect actual Equalize data.
16. Examples of insights we would avoid
Examples of insights we would avoid include:
- identifying a specific household;
- publishing a specific household's expenses;
- naming individual users;
- publishing small-group statistics where a household may be identifiable;
- comparing named household members;
- using precise location plus household behaviour in a way that could identify people;
- publishing sensitive household conflict data in a way that feels intrusive;
- exposing notes, invite codes, account IDs or technical identifiers.
17. Children and teenagers
Equalize is not intended for children under 13.
Users aged 13 to 17 may use Equalize only with the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian.
When creating Equalize Insights, we will be careful with information that may involve teenagers or family households.
We will not publish insights that identify teenage users or their households.
18. Relationship to our Privacy Policy
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what personal information Equalize collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what rights users may have.
This Equalize Insights Policy focuses specifically on how anonymous and aggregated household insights may be created and used.
If there is any conflict between this policy and the Privacy Policy, the Privacy Policy will take priority.
19. Changes to this policy
We may update this Equalize Insights Policy from time to time.
If we make significant changes to how Equalize Insights are created or used, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as through the app, website or email.
Where required by law, we will ask for consent before applying material changes.
