Equalize ("we", "us", "our") is a household management application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — your name and email address when you register.
• Household data — expenses, balances, chores, shopping lists, and monthly reports that you and your household members enter.
• Usage data — basic app activity and device information used to improve performance and fix issues.
• Payment information — subscription payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your card details.

2. How we use your information

• To provide and operate Equalize.
• To process subscription payments.
• To send service-related communications (e.g. account or billing notices).
• To improve app performance and fix bugs.

3. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We retain your data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymise your personal data, unless we need to retain certain information for legal, security, or legitimate business reasons.

4. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the third-party service providers necessary to operate Equalize — including Firebase for data storage and our payment processor for subscriptions. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

5. Household data and other members

When you join or create a household in Equalize, household data (expenses, chores, shopping lists) is visible to all members of that household. You are responsible for who you invite.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@equalizeapp.com.

7. Children

Equalize is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Equalize after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
